A large shad for active predator fishing
The NorthPulse Shad 18 has a full body at the front, a narrower tail and a clear paddle at the back. The design gives the paddle room to work when the bait is pulled through the water. The large side profile is clearly visible, while the Silver-Blue gives a natural cool shine without harsh neon colors.

Why Silver-Blue?
The color combination is based on classic prey fish logic. The pearly silver provides light reflections, the blue side creates a cool tone and the subtle shimmer breaks up the surface when the light changes. The color is especially suitable when you want to imitate shiny fish such as roach, smelt or other silver-colored prey fish.

Three good ways to rig the NorthPulse Shad 18
The rig controls the working depth, sink rate and how the bait moves. Always place the hook next to the bait before mounting. The hook tip should come out straight and in front of the narrow tail spool, so that the paddle does not lock.

Jigskull
For bottom fishing, steeps, deep edges and more direct contact. Start around hook size 7/0, but always check the actual length and gap of the hook as sizes vary between manufacturers.

Screw rig / shallow rig
For slow presentations in shallow water and over vegetation, use a stinger length that places the hook(s) along the front and middle of the body without obstructing the tail.

Weighted screw rig
To fish the same free profile deeper, increase the weight gradually until the bait holds the desired depth at the speed you want to use.
Rig tip: Choose the lightest weight that still gets the bait to the right depth and gives the contact you need. When fishing for pike, use a pike-proof jig and a rig sized for the fish.

Slow, even winding
Let the paddle tail do the work. Great as a first presentation when searching for fish over flats, along vegetation or along an edge.
Stop and go
Alternate steady reeling with short pauses. The pause changes speed and depth and can make a following fish make a decision.
Lift and sink
With a jig head you can lift the bait from the bottom and let it sink back on a stretched or lightly controlled line.
Free in the water mass
Adjust weight and reeling speed according to the depth where prey and predator fish are. Check the passage next to the boat before the first cast.

Frequently asked questions
Is the NorthPulse Shad 18 primarily a pike bait?
Yes. The size and profile make pike the main species. Zander and large perch can also take the bait, especially where larger prey fish are on the menu.
What hook size should I use?
Around 7/0 is a reasonable starting point on jig heads for a bait close to seven inches. Always compare the hook to the bait. Hook gap, shank length and size markings vary between models and manufacturers.
What does it weigh?
Between 63-67g
Does the 3D eye have any mechanical function?
No. It's a visual detail. The movement of the bait is created by the shape of the body, the paddle tail, the rig and how you fish the bait home.
Can color and finish differentiate between lures?
Yes. The baits are hand-cast in small batches, so minor differences in shade, shimmer, joint and finish may occur.
Storage and care
- Store the bait upright and cool, preferably in the original packaging.
- Keep it away from prolonged direct sunlight and high heat.
- Store different soft plastic materials separately as they can react with each other.
- Check the bait, eye and rig for hard hits or contact with the bottom.
- Keep baits and hooks out of reach of children.
